چکیده

A method for the determination of pixel correspondence in stereo image pairs is presented. The optic ̄ow vectors that result from the displacement of the point of projection are obtained and the correspondence between pixels of the various objects in the scene is derived from the optic ̄ow vectors. The proposed algorithm is implemented and the correspondence vectors are obtained. Various specialized improvements of the method are implemented and thoroughly tested on sequences of image pairs giving rise to interesting conclusions. The algorithm is highly-parallelizable and therefore suitable for real-time applications.

Multi-Modal Matching Applied to Stereo

We introduce a compact coding of image information which explicitly separates visual information into geometric information (orientation) and structural information (phase and colour) and temporal information (optic flow). We investigate the importance of these visual attributes for stereo matching on a large data set. From these investigation we can conclude that it is the combination of diffe...

An iterative Bayesian technique for Dense Image Point Matching

We present a conceptually simple algorithm for dense image point matching between two multi-modal (e.g. color) images. The algorithm is based on the assumption that correct image point matches satisfy locally a particular statistical distribution. Through an iterative evaluation of a local probability measure, global constraints are taken into account and the most likely set of image point matc...

Binocular Image Sequence Analysis: Integration of Stereo Disparity and Optic Flow for Improved Obstacle Detection and Tracking

Binocular vision systems have been widely used for detecting obstacles in advanced driver assistant systems (ADASs). These systems normally utilise disparity information extracted from left and right image pairs, but ignore the optic flows able to be extracted from the two image sequences. In fact, integration of these two methods may generate some distinct benefits. This paper proposes two alg...

Optimizing Disparity Candidates Space in Dense Stereo Matching

In this paper, a new approach for optimizing disparity candidates space is proposed for the solution of dense stereo matching problem. The main objectives of this approachare the reduction of average number of disparity candidates per pixel with low computational cost and high assurance of retaining the correct answer. These can be realized due to the effective use of multiple radial windows, i...

Is Dense Optic Flow Useful to Compute the Fundamental Matrix?

Estimating the fundamental matrix from a pair of stereo images is one of the central problems in stereo vision. Typically, this estimation is based on a sparse set of point correspondences that has been obtained by a matching of characteristic image features. In this paper, however, we propose a completely different strategy: Motivated by the high precision of recent variational methods for com...
